Intinerary

I intend to do away with detailed day-by-day itinerary and settle for a more general itinerary to allow for some spontaneity on the trip. Broadly I will be flying into Chiang Mai and entering Laos through the Chiang Khong-Huay Xai border. I intend to board one of the slow boats that ply the Mekong between Huay Xai and Luang Prabang. From Luang Prabang, I will either continue southward to Vang Vieng or eastward to Phonsavan to see the Plain of Jars. Eventually, I will end up in Vientiane.

Depending on interest and the amount of time left, I may just concentrate on the northern Laos before exiting through Nong Khai Friendship Bridge or take my Laos trip as far south as Pakse and exit through Chong Mek-Ubon Ratchathani border. Another option is to fly from Pakse to Siem Reap on Laos Airlines to save on the one day journey.

Whatever travel option I chose in Laos, I will allow myself at least 5 days to travel Cambodia. I will either enter Cambodia through Aranya Prathet-Poipet border via Bangkok or flown into Siem Reap from Pakse. My intention is to spend 3 days doing Angkor Wat and Christmas in Siem Reap. I will fly back to Singapore from Phnom Penh.
